Miami, FL – This week, Rick Scott announced his run for Republican Senate Leadership. Florida’s Senate race could now decide the Senate majority as well as the Senate leader – and Rick Scott already wrote the plan to sunset Social Security and Medicare, leaving millions of families uninsured.
“Like so many others in our state, I know firsthand the impact that Social Security and Medicare benefits have for Florida families. My mother worked two jobs to earn these benefits that have saved her life,” said Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. “Rather than expanding access to affordable health care and protecting the benefits our seniors have worked for, Rick Scott wrote the plan to put these critical programs on the chopping block, leaving thousands of families uninsured and pushing seniors into poverty. This Senate race has never been more important, and in November, Floridians will retire Rick Scott.”
